At a meeting of the Astana maslikhat held today, the issue of possibly raising car towing fees was discussed. However, deputies decided not to change the current prices, reports infohub.kz.
According to the head of the Traffic Organization Center, Dauren Sabitov, more than 500 cars are towed to impound lots in the capital every month. He noted that income from vehicle storage only partially covers the costs of their maintenance. With the cost of towing and parking at 34,000 tenge, the fee for the impound lot is 3 MCI (12,975 tenge). During his speech, the head of the center proposed bringing the tariff closer to the cost.
However, maslikhat deputies did not support this proposal, stating that the task is "not to punish people," and suggested covering the costs through other private parking lots.
"We will not raise tariffs for now, so deal with other issues - you still have not resolved the issue of free parking for electric vehicles as required by law. There are also many other problems besides tariffs. I suggest we deal with them first," said the chairman of the maslikhat, Tabigat Zeynulkabden.
Recall that since the end of April, paid towing of vehicles for violations of stopping and parking rules has officially been introduced in Astana.
