Some residents of Kazakhstan's capital will receive a one-time social payment in the coming days to mark the Day of Persons with Disabilities, with amounts ranging from 21,625 to 86,500 tenge, the website infohub.kz reports.

According to the Astana akimat, the payment is available to persons with disabilities registered in the city. The Day of Persons with Disabilities is marked on the second Sunday of October — this year it falls on the 11th.

The size of the one-time assistance depends on the disability group. For group one, it amounts to 20 monthly calculation indices, or 86,500 tenge. Group two, as well as children with disabilities under 18 of all groups, are entitled to 10 MCI — 43,250 tenge. Group three will receive 5 MCI — 21,625 tenge.

No application is required to receive the assistance: payments will be assigned automatically based on data from the state corporation "Government for Citizens."

The akimat drew attention to an important nuance: if a person has recently changed their place of residence, they should check whether the file of the disability benefit recipient has been transferred to their new place of residence in Astana.

"Under the rules, one-time social assistance is assigned once per calendar year on only one ground," the akimat added.

Thus, if a citizen has already received such social assistance on another ground earlier in the calendar year, no repeat payment for the Day of Persons with Disabilities will be made.
