With the start of the school year, drivers in Astana have been urged to be more careful when choosing places to stop and park, so as not to endanger children and other road users, reports infohub.kz.
The Traffic Organization Center reminded motorists to follow the rules for stopping and parking, especially near educational institutions.
"Violating the rules of stopping and parking poses a direct threat to road safety and pedestrians. Cars left in unauthorized places block visibility at crosswalks, force people to step onto the roadway, and impede the movement of other participants. Moreover, such cars hinder the passage of emergency services – ambulances, firefighters, and police – whose speed often determines whether lives are saved," the Center emphasized.
Near schools and kindergartens, there are more child pedestrians. Therefore, safe approaches to educational institutions and good visibility at crossings are especially important.
The Traffic Organization Center asked motorists to follow the Rules of the Road, not to park in areas where prohibition signs are in effect, and not to park on pedestrian crossings. Drivers were also reminded to leave their cars only in designated areas.
