Two men have been arrested in Astana on suspicion of illegally trafficking hashish oil. During a search, police seized more than 1.5 kilograms of drugs, with an ordinary manti steamer becoming the key piece of evidence — it was used to melt the substance, reports infohub.kz.
According to police, the suspects, aged 24 and 23, rented two apartments in the same stairwell on different floors. Investigators believe they acted together, distributing drugs through online messengers and setting up stashes.
“During the searches of both apartments, plastic bottles containing a yellow liquid substance identified as hashish oil, electronic scales, packaging materials, and containers with narcotics were found,” police said.
Additionally, in the kitchen of one apartment, a manti steamer with traces of narcotic substance was seized. According to investigators, the suspects used it to melt hashish oil before packaging and further distribution. In total, police seized more than 1.5 kilograms of hashish oil and marijuana.
“A criminal case has been opened. The suspects have been detained and placed in a temporary detention facility,” police added. The department reminded of criminal liability for drug possession and distribution and urged residents to report similar incidents.
