A 26-year-old man in Astana damaged an elevator door in a residential building on Baurzhan Momyshuly Avenue by kicking it several times at night, the website infohub.kz reports.
The city police department said the incident occurred at night and that the young man was intoxicated.
"It was established that at night the man, while intoxicated, kicked the elevator door, damaging property in common use. Police officers identified and detained the offender. He turned out to be a 26-year-old man. For appearing in a public place while intoxicated, disturbing the peace and committing petty hooliganism, the measures provided for by law were taken against him," the police department said in a statement.
Police added that a court ordered an administrative penalty of 5 days' arrest. In addition, the offender will be required to compensate for the material damage caused.
