A tragedy unfolded in Kazakhstan's capital when both spouses died during a family conflict, with two children aged 12 and 14 reportedly witnessing the scene, according to neighbors. The news was reported by infohub.kz.
As a NUR.KZ correspondent reports, the incident took place in the Shyghys residential complex. According to the Criminal Kazakhstan public page, a 55-year-old man stabbed his 53-year-old wife during the conflict and then inflicted a knife wound on himself. Both died at the scene from their injuries.
"According to neighbors, the incident happened in front of two children — aged 12 and 14," the post says.
A NUR.KZ correspondent sent a request to the Astana police department. The agency confirmed the information.
"A criminal case has been opened over the murder and suicide. It has been established that during a conflict between the spouses, the 55-year-old man inflicted knife wounds on his 53-year-old wife and then inflicted a knife wound on himself. Both died at the scene from their injuries," the statement says.
It is noted that a comprehensive investigation is currently underway to establish all the causes and circumstances of what happened.
"No other information is subject to disclosure under Article 201 of the Criminal Procedure Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan," police added.
