In a residential complex in Astana, a family conflict ended in the deaths of both spouses. According to neighbors, before the tragedy the woman repeatedly ran into the stairwell calling for help, reports infohub.kz.
Recall that on the ninth floor of one of the capital's residential complexes, a 55-year-old man and his 53-year-old wife died. According to police, a conflict occurred between them. The man inflicted a knife wound on the woman, then wounded himself. Both died before medics arrived. It all happened in front of their underage child.
Journalists from Channel Seven visited the residential complex the day after the incident. The apartment was sealed, with bloody traces left everywhere. According to the TV channel, a bloody footprint was visible on the carpet, and what appeared to be a handprint on the wall.
The owners of one apartment said they had moved there four years ago, and the deceased couple was already living there then. A neighbor recalls that she had not noticed any conflicts. She thought it was an ordinary family that often had guests, and the apartment door was always open. So what happened shocked her.
"At around 10:30 p.m., screams could be heard, we heard them for about three minutes, and then they died down. Twice, as I understood, she ran out into the stairwell, maybe she wanted to escape or something, I don't know. Then the ambulance arrived, the police, and after that we realized that something had probably happened," she says.
According to residents, on that fateful night the woman screamed and begged for help, and then the man's cry was heard: "What have I done?" After that it went quiet, neighbors say.
Moreover, according to another neighbor, Bakzhamal Keshirbayeva, who lives in the apartment directly below, the screams and quarrels of the spouses could be heard not only that night.
"Scandals happened in this building. Last year we heard them often. We went to them with a representative of the OSI and gave them a warning. We said: 'You are adults, stop this.' He, it turns out, was drinking. The landlady called the police then and he was locked up for two days. And apparently when he returned, he started another scandal," says neighbor Bakzhamal Keshirbayeva.
Police said an investigation is underway to establish all the causes and circumstances of the family drama.
"It was established that during a conflict between the spouses, the man inflicted a knife wound on his wife, after which he inflicted a knife wound on himself. Both died at the scene from their injuries," recalled Elmira Shaulenova, head of the information policy department of the Astana Police Department.
By the way, the couple had five children, four of whom are already adults. The youngest son is 14, and he was also in the apartment on the night of the tragedy. Psychologists are currently working with him, and the child is staying with his older brothers and sisters.
