Following heavy rainfall in Astana, municipal services have been placed on an enhanced operating mode. The storm drainage and treatment facilities are generally coping with the volume of water, but temporary minor flooding may occur in some areas, according to the press service of the Akim of Astana, as reported by infohub.kz.

According to the services, during simultaneous heavy precipitation, water in the storm drainage system typically recedes within 40 minutes to one hour. This is due to the high load on the network during intense rains.

Simultaneously, continuous work is underway to clean collectors and storm water inlets, steam-clean pipes, and construct new storm drainage systems and treatment facilities. Authorities emphasize that these measures are aimed at increasing the resilience of urban infrastructure to heavy rainfall.
