Police in Astana have launched a criminal investigation after a nine-year-old boy was injured when a football goal fell on him during a training session, reports infohub.kz.
According to the city police department, the incident occurred when the child hung on the goal, causing it to collapse onto him. The boy sustained injuries and is receiving necessary medical care.
Police stated: "Investigative measures are currently underway to establish all circumstances of the incident. The child has been injured and is receiving necessary medical care."
Earlier reports indicated that the incident happened on August 10 at around 19:30 on a football field at the House of Football in Astana, which houses the Kazakhstan Football Federation. The injured child was born in 2017. According to journalist Aslan Kazhenov, the boy was taken to intensive care after the injury.
Later, the KFF confirmed the incident and stated that the field had been rented to a private football school for a training session. The federation launched an internal inspection of the technical condition of the facility and equipment and expressed readiness to assist the competent authorities.
