An Astana resident has been sentenced to 16 years in prison for drug smuggling on a particularly large scale, according to the website infohub.kz.
According to police, the 32-year-old man received three international parcels from Thailand containing hashish oil (cannabis extract). The total weight of the confiscated substance was about 2.9 kg.
During further investigation at the suspect's temporary residence, police found drugs prepared for sale, electronic scales, packaging materials, cash, and other evidence. The court found the man guilty of smuggling narcotics on a particularly large scale and sentenced him to 16 years in prison.
