On July 14, 2026, Astana recorded its highest temperature for that date since weather observations began, as thermometers hit 38.6°C, reports infohub.kz.
According to the Kazhydromet monitoring network, the maximum air temperature in the capital reached 38.6°C, beating the previous record for July 14 by 3.3°C. That record of 35.3°C was set in 1992.
Kazhydromet forecasters had warned in advance that July 14 would be the hottest day in the capital, predicting temperatures of 37–39°C, which exceeded the historical maximum for that date.
Already on July 13, the heat approached record levels: by 1:40 p.m., the temperature in Astana had reached 35.9°C. For comparison, the absolute maximum for July 13 was set back in 1935 at 39.5°C.
Notably, on June 23, Astana also set a new temperature record for that date, with air warming to 36.8°C, surpassing the previous 1941 record of 36.4°C.
