After a rainstorm, water leaked from the ceiling at the Syganak LRT station in Astana. City Transportation Systems (CTS) said the incident was not caused by precipitation but by a test of engineering systems, reports infohub.kz.

The company explained that the leak occurred during commissioning work when fire-safety equipment was being checked and adjusted. "This case is related to the commissioning of engineering systems, during which the equipment of fire-fighting systems is checked and configured," CTS noted.

CTS clarified that during such work, access hatches for the fire extinguishing systems are opened, through which moisture can sometimes enter. "During these works, service hatches for the fire extinguishing systems are opened, through which moisture may occasionally get in," the company added.

Measures are now being taken to fix the situation and ensure the structure is sealed. "Currently, necessary measures are being taken to eliminate the issue and ensure proper sealing. Tarlan Astana is operating as normal," CTS said.
