Starting August 1, the Tarlan Astana light rail line will introduce an expanded fare system. In addition to single-ride tickets, passengers will be able to purchase daily, monthly, and quarterly passes, as well as packages with a fixed number of trips, reports the website infohub.kz.
The single-ride fare remains unchanged at 200 tenge. Passes are available at the following prices: one day – 500 tenge, three days – 1,500 tenge, five days – 2,500 tenge, ten days – 4,000 tenge, fifteen days – 5,000 tenge, one month – 7,500 tenge, and three months – 20,000 tenge.
Alternatively, passengers can buy trip packages: five trips for 900 tenge, ten for 1,800, twenty for 3,500, and thirty for 5,000 tenge.
A monthly pass purchased on or before the 15th of the month is valid until the end of that month. If bought after the 15th, it becomes valid on the first day of the following month. Daily passes and trip packages become active after the first validation. Daily fares are valid through the end of the calendar day, while packages are valid until all paid trips are used.
Fares can be purchased at ticket offices on Tarlan Astana stations and are stored on a transport card. Card balances can be checked at the ticket office or via terminals at stations. In case of card loss, activated fares are not restored or transferred to a new card.
Currently, these fares apply only to the Tarlan Astana line, but efforts are underway to integrate them with Astana’s bus network.
Earlier reports stated that in its first 1.5 months of operation, Astana’s LRT carried 3.2 million passengers and generated over 503 million tenge in ticket revenue. In June alone, 2.1 million people used the new line.
