Residents of Kazakhstan's capital have been warned of new disruptions linked to the construction of the second line of the Tarlan Astana light rail transit (LRT) system. According to the city akimat, partial traffic restrictions are being introduced on two streets starting today, reports infohub.kz.
According to the capital's administration, the restrictions are tied to work on the second phase of the Tarlan Astana project. Specifically, traffic will be partially closed on a section of Syganak Street — from Tole Bi Street to Aitmatov Street — as well as on Aitmatov Street, from Syganak Street to K. Mukhamedkhanov Street.
"We ask road users to take the changes into account, comply with road sign requirements and plan their routes in advance based on the current traffic situation," the akimat's statement said.
Recall that last year, Astana akim Zhenis Kassymbek said the LRT project would continue — with one of the next branches to be built toward Kosshy. And in May this year, it was announced that construction had begun on the second phase of the LRT, in the direction of the town of Kosshy.
