In Astana, a man has sought help, claiming he is suffering from psychological pressure from his ex-wife. According to him, even two years after the divorce, the woman continues to harass, pursue, and provoke conflicts. The couple's two children currently live with the father. The victim has repeatedly contacted the police, but he says law enforcement handled the case formally because he is a man, and closed the investigation. Lawyers note that such actions may qualify as stalking and emphasize that the law should apply equally to men and women, reports politico.kz.
"The man has committed no offenses. There have been no insults or foul language. All of this is documented. Despite that, the competent authorities have not issued a fair ruling. So he turned to us. We are now considering the issue of the children. Then we will look into personal safety regarding the stalking, as well as the fact that the man plans to start a new family in two years and is already seeing a woman," explained lawyer Nursultan Orynbekov.
According to experts, in court cases involving men, their arguments are often not fully heard. The victim now demands a fair review of all circumstances under the law and a complete end to the harassment by his ex-wife.
