A new admission and diagnostic complex at the multi-specialty City Hospital No. 2 in Astana is scheduled for completion in October. The facility will be able to handle between 850 and 1,000 visits per day, according to infohub.kz.
The Ministry of Health announced the opening plans. The five-story complex, with a total area of more than 7,000 square meters, will bring together diagnostic services, operating rooms, trauma care, and a stroke center.
The building will have 118 beds, including 18 intensive care beds. Separate wards of 40 beds each will be designated for stroke and severe trauma patients. In addition, a trauma center for adults on the left bank of Astana will open there, with a capacity of 100–120 people per day.
Neonatal tables and transport incubators for emergency care of newborns will be installed inside. In total, the hospital will create 150 jobs, 50 of them new.
The facility is being built on the instructions of the Head of State at the expense of the local budget. A CT scanner, a 3 Tesla MRI, an angiograph, X-ray machines, and ultrasound devices have been purchased for diagnosis and treatment. The new operating rooms will be used for complex surgical interventions, including for severe injuries and vascular diseases.
Minister of Health Akmaral Alnazarova inspected the progress of construction and equipping of the complex. She examined the facility and discussed its readiness to receive patients with doctors.
The main principle of the complex is a single patient pathway: from admission and diagnosis to surgery and further treatment. Separate entrances are provided for different categories of patients: for obstetric patients, the general flow, and visitors to the trauma center.
The hospital is introducing a unified digital monitoring system. It will allow doctors to centrally monitor the condition of patients in operating rooms and intensive care units.
