In the capital of Kazakhstan, two men have been held accountable for hooliganism committed in a puddle in the courtyard of a residential complex. The incident occurred after a heavy downpour flooded the city's yards and streets. Law enforcement identified the offenders from a video that went viral on social media, reports infohub.kz.
The footage, posted on Kazakh social networks, shows two men drinking alcohol while sitting in a rainwater puddle and splashing water at children. Police conducted a check and detained the hooligans. They were identified as 37-year-old Alexey Sviridov and 35-year-old Vladimir Logvin. Both were charged with petty hooliganism.
By court decision, Alexey Sviridov was arrested for 25 days, and Vladimir Logvin for 7 days. The Astana police department reminded that such behavior in public places is unacceptable, and any actions that disturb the peace and safety of citizens will be strictly suppressed.
It is worth recalling that the day before, a powerful downpour hit the capital, turning streets into raging rivers within minutes. The storm drainage system failed to cope with the volume of water, and the most difficult situation was on Momyshuly and Tauelsizdik avenues. Residents of the city massively shared footage of flooded roads and stalled cars. Earlier it was reported that rescuers were helping owners of flooded vehicles.
