Police in Astana have identified and detained a 35-year-old man suspected of illegally taking possession of a Mercedes-Benz 200E worth about 4 million tenge, the website infohub.kz reports.
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs' website, preliminary information indicates the man approached a company and arranged a long-term rental of the vehicle. He used the car for some time, but after the return deadline passed, he stopped communicating with the company's representatives.

During operational search activities, police established that the rented vehicle had been sold. The suspect was detained at his place of residence.
The man has been placed in a temporary detention facility. A pre-trial investigation is underway, and all circumstances of the incident are being established.
"It is necessary to carefully check documents and terms when leasing property, and if suspicious circumstances arise, promptly contact the police," the Ministry of Internal Affairs reminded citizens and organizations.
