Residents of Astana have been warned about nighttime mosquito and midge treatment in the city, reports infohub.kz.
According to the city administration, 10,000 hectares have already been treated. During disinsection measures, it is important to take precautions: limit access to treated areas and close windows during spraying.
Work is carried out nightly from 9:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. Treatment starts in the city center and gradually moves to the outskirts, where a protective barrier is formed. One cycle lasts 20 days, with six rounds planned for the season.
The administration noted that it is impossible to completely eliminate mosquitoes, as they are part of the ecosystem. However, the measures can reduce their population by up to 90%.
Rotary sprayers, specialized disinsection vehicles, quadcopters for hard-to-reach areas with reed vegetation, and an equipped boat for treating large water bodies are used.
More than 150 disinsection specialists have been deployed. In addition, authorities called on housing cooperatives, condominium associations, management companies, and property owners to treat basements and eliminate breeding grounds.
Earlier, it was reported that drones would be used to combat mosquitoes in Atyrau.
