A resident of Astana has been sentenced to 4 years and 8 months in prison for shooting a gas pistol inside a nightclub. The court found him guilty of hooliganism involving gas weapons, according to infohub.kz.

Prosecutors said the incident occurred after the man, intoxicated and having consumed nitrous oxide balloons, began harassing other patrons. One visitor confronted him.

“One of the guests tried to admonish the offender and find out the reasons for his provocative behavior,” the supervisory authority said.

In response, the defendant pulled out a gas pistol and fired two shots at the victim’s chest, causing injuries. “Without any intention of keeping public order, inside the entertainment venue he took out his gas pistol and fired two shots at the victim’s chest,” prosecutors emphasized.

After the shooting, the assailant fled but later fully confessed during the trial. The court sentenced him to 4 years and 8 months in prison.

Prosecutors reminded residents to maintain public order and warned of legal consequences for unlawful acts.
