A short circuit in the electrical wiring of one vehicle has been named as the preliminary cause of a fire that destroyed five passenger cars in an outdoor parking lot in Astana. The city police department of the Kazakh capital told a NUR.KZ correspondent, according to infohub.kz.
Earlier reports said five cars caught fire in a parking lot in Astana, and a man who owned two of the vehicles was injured in the blaze.
A NUR.KZ correspondent contacted the Astana police department for clarification on the causes of the incident.
"According to preliminary data, a short circuit occurred in the electrical wiring of one of the cars, causing a fire. As a result of the fire, four cars burned completely and another was partially damaged. One person was taken to a medical facility for necessary assistance. All circumstances of the incident, the causes of the fire, and the amount of damage are being established. A corresponding legal assessment will be given based on the results of the investigation," the statement said.
Recall that on October 6, firefighters in Astana extinguished a fire involving five passenger cars. The vehicles caught fire in an outdoor parking lot near a residential complex in the Saraishyk district.
"By the time the first fire crews arrived, all the cars were already burning with open flames. Due to strong winds, the fire quickly spread to nearby parked cars," the Emergency Situations Ministry said.
