Pensioners in Kazakhstan's capital will receive nearly 11,000 tenge for the Day of Older Persons, the Astana akimat reported, according to infohub.kz.
The financial assistance will go to age pensioners registered in Astana and recipients of the minimum pension.
"In accordance with the rules for providing social assistance, it is provided as a one-time cash payment of 2.5 MCI (10,800 tenge)," local authorities said.
The akimat added that, according to the "Government for Citizens" lists, the payments will cover more than 110,000 people.
Recall that in 2024, more than 107,000 Astana residents received one-time cash payments for the Day of Older Persons. The payment then also amounted to 2.5 MCI. In addition, free travel on city public transport routes (except taxis) was provided for the city's pensioners.
Earlier, Kursiv wrote that elderly Kazakhstanis continue to face financial constraints. Every fifth pensioner cannot cope with even relatively small unexpected expenses, and nearly a third cannot afford a week's vacation away from home.
