In Astana, patrol police officers had to break into an apartment, where they discovered a 16-year-old girl fast asleep, left to look after an infant, reports infohub.kz.
According to NUR.KZ, citing Polisia.kz, a local resident was unable to get into her own apartment and had to ask police for help.
According to the media portal of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, emergency assistance to the resident of the capital was provided by patrol police inspectors of the Astana Police Department, Zhandos Abdanbekov and Aset Kuralbayev.
"It was established that the woman left her young child with her 16-year-old younger sister and went to a clinic. However, when she returned home, she could not get into the apartment — no one opened the door, and a baby could be heard crying inside," the Ministry of Internal Affairs said.
The mother immediately turned to police for help. Given the possible threat to the child's life and health, police officers broke down the door and entered the apartment. Inside, they found an 11-month-old baby crying.
"It also turned out that the 16-year-old girl was fast asleep. The police ensured the child's safety and handed him over to his mother," the statement said.
