Residents of Astana are discussing a video shot near the residential complex "Green Quarter". The footage shows the shoreline of the pond covered with trash, and the water with a dense layer of vegetation and pollution. The authors of the post claim that sewage may be entering the pond, reports infohub.kz.

The capital's akimat, in response to a request from Kursiv, said that the last sanitary cleaning of the pond was carried out on August 3-4. The city administration explained that the pond is a living ecosystem, so algae, silt, and plant residues naturally accumulate periodically. At the same time, pollution with household waste is largely due to careless visitors.

The akimat emphasized that the area is cleaned regularly and urged residents not to leave trash near the pond. However, the official comment does not confirm the information spread on social media about possible sewage entering the pond.

Earlier, Kursiv reported that the Department of Ecology for the Karaganda Region again brought TOO "Karagandy Su" to administrative responsibility for violating environmental legislation. The enterprise was fined a large amount.
