A charity event has been held at Qorgau, a crisis center in the capital that assists women who have survived domestic violence. The gathering was timed to coincide with the United Nations' international campaign "16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence," infohub.kz reports.

The event was sponsored by the international company BAT Kazakhstan, which donated a refrigerator, vacuum cleaners, orthopedic mattresses, food and hygiene products to the center.

The center's residents were also treated to a cooking masterclass, while Sunqar Khangeldina, an obstetrician-gynecologist of the highest category, provided one-on-one consultations.

"The women who end up here have been through stress. In that state they are at their most vulnerable. It can also take a toll on their health. Yet self-care and preventive health measures are an essential part of every woman's life," she stressed.

Cosmetologist Galiya Zhandavletova was also invited to advise the center's residents on skincare.

After touring Qorgau, BAT Kazakhstan representatives discussed prospects for further cooperation with the center's management and reaffirmed the company's commitment to making a practical contribution to social initiatives.
