In Pavlodar, a 36-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of a series of apartment burglaries. The suspect, a repeat offender from Astana, followed a consistent pattern: picking locks, entering homes, and stealing jewelry, money, and valuables, which he then sold to pawn shops. He used the proceeds for personal needs, according to the website infohub.kz.

According to police, in July 2026 the suspect stole items worth about 6 million tenge from an apartment. He is suspected of three similar crimes, with total losses amounting to millions of tenge. During a search, police seized part of the money, and at a pawn shop in Semey, stolen gold items were found and confiscated.

"It was established that the 36-year-old man is a resident of Astana with multiple prior convictions. During a personal search, part of the cash was found and seized, and at a pawn shop in Semey, gold items were discovered and confiscated. A criminal case has been opened for theft. The suspect has been placed in a temporary detention facility. Police are investigating his possible involvement in other similar crimes in the region," said Olzhas Temirov, acting head of the criminal police department of the Pavlodar region police department.
