A 44-year-old man has been arrested in Kazakhstan's capital for causing a disturbance on a flight from Antalya. The incident occurred during the flight, and after landing, the passenger resisted police officers, according to infohub.kz.
According to the transport police department, the passenger was intoxicated. While still in the air, he became aggressive, using foul language and disturbing other passengers. After landing at Astana airport, the troublemaker was handed over to transport police.
When being taken to the police room, the man refused to comply with lawful demands and resisted. In response, police were forced to use special means – handcuffs.
Administrative charges were filed against the offender for drinking alcohol or appearing in a public place while intoxicated, as well as for petty hooliganism and disobeying a lawful order of a law enforcement officer. All materials were submitted to the court.
“After reviewing the case, the court found the man guilty and sentenced him to 10 days of arrest,” the transport police department said.
The department reminded passengers to maintain order on board aircraft. Police noted that actions that interfere with crew operations or pose a threat to others may result in liability.
“It is important to remember: flight safety depends not only on the crew and airport staff but also on the behavior of every passenger,” the department stressed.
Earlier, another incident was reported: a passenger on a Batik Air flight from Kuala Lumpur to Kochi attempted to open an emergency exit during the flight. The 36-year-old Jamshir Atanikkal was detained after landing, and later police added attempted murder charges, as his actions could have endangered passengers' lives.
