In Astana, police detained a man suspected of car fraud. According to the investigation, the 29-year-old city resident deceitfully obtained someone else's car and sold it at a reduced price, reports infohub.kz.
As law enforcement established, the suspect gained the trust of his acquaintance and took photos of his white Toyota Camry. He then used these photos to post an ad for the car's sale. He did not tell the buyer that the car did not belong to him and that he had no right to dispose of it.
The transaction was made at a price below market value, which likely attracted the buyer. The car owner, upon discovering the loss, contacted the police. During operational search measures, the suspect was detained and placed in a temporary detention facility. A pre-trial investigation is underway.
In connection with this case, the police remind citizens of the need to document car transactions, even if they are concluded between acquaintances. Before transferring a vehicle to third parties, one should verify the legality of the deal and formalize it with appropriate documents.
