In Astana, the trial continues over the tragic death of paramedic Uldana Myrzuan, who was killed when the facade of a residential building collapsed. During the hearing, a resident of the building spoke, as reported by infohub.kz.
The woman, who lives in the building on Tauelsizdik Street, stated that the structure is in critical condition. According to her, residents have repeatedly contacted state authorities but have received no help. "Our whole house is in a deplorable state right now, because we've been writing to state bodies all this time, we've been appealing. We have huge cracks all over the house, and they're dynamic, meaning they get bigger every day. And it's not just on one side; the house is cracking from all sides. Now we go in, look, and we see these cracks. The only global problem is our facade, which could collapse any day now... there could be a new collapse, and people could get hurt. We, the residents, write collective appeals, we contact all sorts of state bodies, we knock on every door. But so far, unfortunately, there's been no help for us," she shared.
The witness also recounted that at the time of the first collapse, she was at home with her family and initially thought it was an earthquake. After the tragedy, the facade collapsed again, and then the remaining dangerous part was removed by emergency services. Currently, the passage between the buildings where the incident occurred is closed.
Earlier, the victims had already testified in court: Gulnur Kaliyeva, who became disabled as a result of the incident, and her brother, who rushed to help his sister after her call. Testimony was also heard from a colleague of the deceased who was with her on the day of the tragedy. Additionally, it became known that among the emergency workers involved in the rescue, there were dismissals and demotions.
