Parents at a school in Astana have been confronted with an unexpected situation: a first-grade class with 47 students. Concerned adults are questioning how children can receive a quality education under such conditions, reports infohub.kz.
The incident occurred at School No. 95 in the Yesil district of the capital. On social media, users drew attention to the overcrowded class, posting a photo and expressing bewilderment at the number of first-graders. "School 95. Yesil district. Grade 1. There are 47 students in the class. What kind of lawlessness is this? How are these kids supposed to learn?!!" wrote one parent on Threads.
The Astana education department responded promptly to the complaint, explaining that student enrollment continues even after the start of the academic year. According to officials, this led to the increase in class size. "We inform you that after the start of the new school year, the school continues to accept students, which has increased the number of learners. As of today, new classes have been opened due to the increase in the number of students," the department said in an official comment.
Furthermore, the education department emphasized that School No. 95 is not among those with high student numbers. "The said school is not among educational institutions with a high number of students," the department added, attempting to alleviate parents' concerns.
