Social media has been abuzz with claims that parents at one Astana school were threatened with a fine over the "wrong" color of trousers. The incident allegedly occurred on the first day of school, September 2, 2026, reports infohub.kz.
A user on the Threads platform, under the handle qwerty.123.01, posted that their child was sent home for wearing black trousers instead of dark blue. According to the author, the school principal called the parents and said, "Come, you'll be paying a fine." The post also noted that the child had worn the same trousers the previous year, and the principal was the same.
The Education Department of the Astana Akimat has refuted this information. The department clarified that both black and dark blue school uniforms are allowed in the capital's schools. "The information that parents of students at the said school face a fine for the color of the school uniform is false. The school administration has been instructed to conduct additional explanatory work with teachers and parents and to prevent incorrect interpretation of school uniform requirements," the department stated.
