In the new academic year, schools in the capital are preparing to enroll about 35,000 first-graders, which is four thousand more than the previous year, reports infohub.kz.
Document submission for the first grade started on May 28 and will last until August 31. According to the Astana Education Department, more than 30,000 children have already been enrolled as of today.
For comparison, in the last academic year, 31,000 children were admitted to the first grades. By the start of the 2025-2026 academic year, the capital had 206 schools with over 310,000 students.
In addition, in 2025, seven new schools with 28,000 places were opened in Astana. In total, 15 new educational institutions were planned to be commissioned during the academic year.
Parents can submit documents online via the e-government portal or in person at the school. For enrollment, the following are required: an application from a parent or legal representative; a vaccination record card (form No. 065/u); a child's health passport (form No. 052-2/u); and a digital photo of the child measuring 3x4 cm. When submitting documents in paper form, a copy of the parent's or legal representative's ID is also needed.
Earlier it was reported that about 450,000 children in Kazakhstan will receive assistance for school preparation. The minimum amount of support will be 50,800 tenge per child.
