A long-awaited daughter was born to Aizhan Nuserova of Astana after eight years of waiting and six rounds of IVF. Today her two-year-old, Dariya, is battling a severe cancer, and her parents have sold their apartment and car to pay for treatment, infohub.kz reports.

The girl was diagnosed with high-risk neuroblastoma when she was one year and four months old. The tumor was located in the abdominal cavity, had spread to the bone marrow and produced multiple bone metastases.

"For six months we were treated in Korea, where we underwent four courses of chemotherapy. Due to breathing complications, my daughter was in intensive care three times; the last time she spent 34 days on a ventilator, with her heart stopping for an hour and her kidneys and lungs failing. She was put on ECMO and dialysis. But thanks to the intensive care doctors, Dariya survived," said the girl's mother, Aizhan Nuserova.

Dariya is now being treated at Sant Joan de Déu hospital in Barcelona. She has already undergone seven courses of chemo-immunotherapy, surgery to remove the tumor and radiation therapy. According to her mother, there is positive progress and the tumor has largely receded. However, four more courses of chemo-immunotherapy remain to be completed by the end of January 2027.

"Last year the tumor left Dariya unable to use her legs, and we are currently undergoing rehabilitation. The results are good — my daughter has started crawling and getting up on her legs," Aizhan explained.

Money is needed for treatment, and the family's funds are almost exhausted. To save their daughter, Aizhan and her husband sold their apartment and car, spent all their savings and even borrowed money. Thanks to caring people, Dariya can continue her treatment. But according to her mother, donations have dropped sharply and the debt to the clinic is growing.
