Two seventh-graders in Astana deliberately disabled a surveillance camera installed at a bus stop on Dauren Street, but it was their parents who had to answer for the deed — administrative protocols were drawn up against the legal representatives, reports infohub.kz.

According to NUR.KZ, citing the information media portal of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Polisia.kz, the incident involved two 7th-grade students. The teenagers intentionally damaged the video recording device at the bus stop.

A preventive talk was held with the minors. They were explained the requirements of Kazakhstan's legislation, as well as the liability for intentional damage or destruction of another's or public property.

"Special attention was paid to the importance of video surveillance systems for ensuring the safety of citizens, especially in public places. Damage to such facilities not only causes material damage but can also negatively affect public safety," the statement said.

Administrative protocols were drawn up against the parents of the minors under Part 1 of Article 127 of the Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan on Administrative Offenses — for improper performance of duties in raising children.

Police remind: damage or destruction of public or another's property is an unlawful act. For the actions of minors, not only they themselves but also their parents or legal representatives may be held liable.
