A judicial panel for criminal cases in Astana has reviewed appeals filed by those convicted in a fraud case at an ambulance station that caused damage estimated at 443 million tenge, and left the verdict unchanged, the website infohub.kz reports.

According to NUR.KZ, citing the capital's court, the case involves the former head of the ambulance station and his accomplices, who sought to challenge an earlier verdict. In July of this year, it was reported that a verdict had been handed down in Astana against former ambulance station employees: they caused damage totaling 443 million tenge by setting up a car service station at the enterprise.

Today, the Telegram channel of Astana's courts clarified that the judicial panel for criminal cases examined the appeals of the convicted individuals and their defense lawyers, who asked that the verdict be overturned and the defendants acquitted.

"During the review, the panel examined the arguments in the appeals and the materials of the criminal case. No grounds were established for overturning or amending the verdict. The verdict of the interdistrict court for criminal cases of the city of Astana dated July 28, 2026, is left unchanged, and the appeals are dismissed," the court's statement says.

Thus, the previously imposed punishment remains in force: the former director of the city ambulance station received 9 years in prison, while the employees received 8 years each, with a lifetime ban on holding certain positions.

The judicial act has entered into legal force.
