Kazakhstan's capital has added two more state-run Palaces of Schoolchildren — the multifunctional TANYM ART and TANYM SPORT complexes — Astana Akim Zhenis Kassymbek announced on his Instagram page, according to infohub.kz.
According to the city head, the facilities were opened on the instructions of President of Kazakhstan Qasym-Jomart Toqaev. "On the instructions of the head of state, we opened two more state Palaces of Schoolchildren in the capital — the multifunctional TANYM ART and TANYM SPORT complexes. They are aimed at developing children's creative, intellectual and athletic potential. Each three-story building, with a total area of 12,225 square meters, includes a swimming pool, sports and concert halls, classrooms, coworking areas and more. The complexes are expected to host classes in STEM technologies, technical and scientific creativity, and the environmental and biological field," Zhenis Kassymbek wrote on social media.
The report notes that under President Qasym-Jomart Toqaev's instructions, the capital is paying special attention to social infrastructure: new schools, kindergartens and Palaces of Schoolchildren open every year.
"Today, together with Minister of Tourism and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan Yerbol Myrzabosynov and Minister of Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan Zhuldyz Suleimenova, we visited the Palaces of Schoolchildren. We talked with the children and got acquainted with the center's work. The event was also attended by well-known athletes: silver medalist of world and Asian judo championships Abiba Abuzhakynova, bronze medalist of the Paris Olympics Gusman Kyrgyzbayev, two-time Olympic boxing silver medalist Adilbek Niyazymbetov, bronze medalist of the Tokyo Olympics Kamshybek Kunkabayev, and two-time world champion Sanzhar Tashkenbay," Zhenis Kassymbek wrote.
The akim added that the new state complexes will expand the capital's supplementary education infrastructure and create conditions for the effective organization of children's leisure and the development of their abilities. In addition, each complex is designed to create more than 100 jobs.
"The TANYM ART complex is located in the Saryarka district at 15 Beibarys Sultan Street. The TANYM SPORT complex is located in the Almaty district at 3 Tulebayev Street. Four Palaces of Schoolchildren had previously opened in the city, including some through private investment. We will continue work in this direction," Zhenis Kassymbek concluded.
