Residents of Astana are widely complaining on social media about record traffic jams that have paralyzed movement on several streets of the capital. According to the 2GIS service, the traffic congestion level has reached nine points, reports infohub.kz.
The Telegram channel "Astana — What? Where? When?" reported that the transport collapse was caused by road works on Kenesary, Valikhanov, and Seifullin streets. The online publication Astanovka98 specifies that the main congestion is concentrated on the right bank of the city and also links the situation to repair works.
"Part of the right bank is at a standstill today. Here is the current situation at the intersection of Zheltoksan and Zhangeldin streets," the message says.
Channel subscribers confirmed the scale of the problem in comments: "Save us," "We've been standing for 15 minutes already," "Housing and communal services, take action," "Will there be traffic jams tomorrow?" — write Astana residents.
According to the 2GIS app, at the time of publication, nine-point traffic jams were recorded in the city. At the same time, streets on the left bank of the capital are also marked in red on the map. "What is Astana turning into with this car collapse on the left bank," "What are these traffic jams," "Traffic jam" — drivers note in the app.
Earlier, law enforcement authorities addressed Astana drivers in connection with the ongoing road repair works in the city. The message noted that due to road works, cases of congestion have become more frequent. Residents and guests of the city were urged to be understanding of the situation, follow traffic rules, and avoid conflict situations on the roads.
