In Astana, a 46-year-old man jumped from the Tulpar Bridge into the water but managed to swim to shore on his own after the fall, infohub.kz reports.
According to NUR.KZ, citing the Astana Police Department, a report of the incident was received on the 102 hotline.
"Police officers immediately arrived at the scene and took the necessary measures to ensure his safety. The man was then handed over to medical personnel for further specialized care," the department said in a statement.
Astana police reminded the public that jumping off bridges into water is not a safe activity. Depth, currents, underwater obstacles and other factors can pose a real threat to life and health. Even when the outcome appears favorable, such situations can lead to serious consequences. For safety, only specially equipped and designated swimming areas should be used.
Earlier, it was reported that in Astana, rescuers pulled a man from the Yesil River after he tried to swim across on his own but failed to reach the shore.
