Cases of vandalism in the Kazakh capital have increased, with citizens facing administrative responsibility. Since the beginning of the year, 94 people have been held accountable for intentional damage to others' property, of whom 67 were arrested and 27 fined a total of over 5 million tenge, according to infohub.kz.
The Astana prosecutor's office provided examples. On June 4, a man under the influence of alcohol broke the glass of the entrance door at a police station, causing damage of 90,000 tenge. He was arrested for 10 days.
In another case, a 38-year-old city resident tore down signs from the mosque named after Sheikh Kunta Kazhy, ripped them up, and threw them away. He was arrested for 15 days.
On May 20, a 20-year-old Astana resident deliberately damaged a barrier. He was fined 50 MCI, which amounts to 216,000 tenge.
The prosecutor's office reminds that such actions are punishable under Article 147-1 of the Code of Administrative Offenses: arrest up to 30 days or a fine up to 60 MCI (259,000 tenge). The authority urges citizens to respect public order and others' property.
