A 27-year-old woman died after falling from the 15th floor of a residential building in Astana. The tragedy occurred when she landed on a baby stroller carrying a two-year-old child. The child also died from the injuries sustained, according to infohub.kz.

According to preliminary information from law enforcement, the woman jumped from a window of an apartment on the 15th floor.

"It was preliminarily established that a 27-year-old woman jumped from a window on the 15th floor of a residential building. As a result of the fall, the woman died. During the fall, she landed on a baby stroller in which a two-year-old child was present. The child died from the injuries sustained," police said.

A criminal case has been opened into the incident. Law enforcement officers are conducting an investigation and establishing all the circumstances of the tragedy.

Earlier, Kursiv wrote that the Interior Ministry and the Prosecutor General's Office resumed the investigation into the death of 22-year-old Veronika Sokolova, who fell from a fourth-floor window of the Almaty Towers residential complex in 2024.

The case is being investigated under articles on driving to suicide and arbitrariness. The proceedings had previously been terminated, but after appeals from the victim's family and public outcry, that decision was overturned and additional examinations were ordered.
