Kazakh mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter Asu Almabaev suffered a defeat in his first bout in the Real American Freestyle (RAF) wrestling league, reports infohub.kz.

The athlete competed at RAF 12, held in Cleveland. His opponent in the featherweight division (up to 66 kg) was American Johnny DiJulius. The match ended early: within 88 seconds, the American achieved a ten-point advantage, 10:0. Thus, DiJulius now has two wins and two losses in RAF.

Almabaev, meanwhile, started his league campaign with a loss. On August 30, the Kazakh is set to debut in ACB JJ, an organization specializing in Brazilian jiu-jitsu. There, Almabaev will have a title bout against Tajikistan's Khalim Nazruloev.

In the main event of RAF 12, former UFC champions American Henry Cejudo and Georgian Merab Dvalishvili faced off. The American won in 36 seconds and took the RAF Crossover belt.
