Atyrau region has begun digitizing services for people with special needs: specialized transport can now be booked through the InvoTaxi mobile app. The regional akimat announced the launch of the pilot project, according to infohub.kz.
According to the local executive body, the system automatically distributes requests among drivers, while passengers can track the vehicle on a map. The app's interface is adapted for people with visual impairments.
The project is expected not only to make trips more convenient and safer — it includes tools for monitoring order status and route compliance — but also to create jobs. People with disabilities are to be hired as dispatchers.
InvoTaxi is currently operating in pilot mode: up to 300 requests have been processed, and only one hundred users are connected to the system so far. Once testing is complete, more than 1,200 users will be connected to the service.
Strict requirements will be imposed on invataxi drivers. Before getting behind the wheel, each driver will undergo screening and special training on how to properly assist passengers with special needs.
Safety will be monitored from every angle: dashcams will be installed in vehicle interiors, and dispatchers will be able to track in real time on a map where the car is and how the order is being fulfilled.
Earlier, Kursiv reported that transport accessibility in the country is being prepared for an overhaul. The Ministry of Transport has already presented a draft that is expected to bring order to the invataxi and passenger transport sector.
Before that, MP Askhat Aimagambetov raised the issue of invataxi accessibility for citizens traveling to other regions.
