An elevator carrying passengers fell in Atyrau, with four people inside the cabin at the time of the crash. Three were taken to hospital, while another refused medical assistance. After examination, the hospitalized residents were released home. The incident occurred in the Grand Atyrau residential complex, where elevator replacements are planned, according to infohub.kz.
As reported by Channel Seven, seven elevators are planned to be replaced in this residential complex, including the one that fell. Local resident Shattyk Smagulova expressed concern about safety: "We worry about our children. They leave in the morning and return in the evening. What if my children had been there at that moment? Or us? Of course, much depends on the residents themselves. It says it's designed for four people — so four. We need to follow the rules."
After the incident, a decision was made to inspect all city elevators. According to Yerkenaz Kalizhan, press secretary of the city akimat, 67 elevators in Atyrau require replacement. "All seven elevators of the Grand Atyrau residential complex are included in the thermal modernization program. In total, 567 elevators operate in nearly 180 residential buildings in Atyrau. Based on residents' appeals, it was established that 67 of them need repair. However, due to lack of funding from the republican budget, these works have not yet started," she explained.
Earlier it was reported that Atyrau akim Daniyar Takhanov visited the scene, familiarized himself with the situation, and spoke with residents and representatives of responsible services.
