Women visiting a shopping and entertainment center in Atyrau reported that a man allegedly peeped at them and filmed them with his phone in the women's restroom. The young man has been detained, the website infohub.kz reports.

The Ak Zhaiyq publication clarified the details of the incident with police. A Kazakh woman using the handle yerbolovaaa0 had earlier described what happened on her Threads social media page. She posted a video showing a man locked inside a restroom stall while several women on the other side demand that he open the door.

According to Ak Zhaiyq, the women at the shopping and entertainment center suspected the young man of peeping and secretly filming them with his phone.

“One of the women in the restroom looked up and suddenly noticed a young man peering over the top from the neighboring stall. The visitor raised the alarm, and instead of coming out and explaining why he was in the women's restroom, the man locked himself in the stall. Other women began approaching at the shouting and also demanded that the uninvited guest come out, but he stubbornly refused to open the door, apparently hoping to wait out the scandal,” the publication said.

In the end, a security guard had to be called; he extracted the young man from the stall and led him through a veritable walk of shame amid the angry shouts of those gathered. According to the women, the man not only peeped but also filmed them with his phone. One visitor claims that photos taken in the restroom were found in his gallery. The young man himself denied everything and demanded that evidence be presented.

The Atyrau Region Police Department told the publication that the young man had been detained and placed in a cell for administrative detainees. He is charged with petty hooliganism. Police have not yet specified whether the reports of secret filming of the women have been confirmed.
