In the village of Tomarly, which is under the administration of the city of Atyrau, a family drama involving a stabbing occurred. A 56-year-old man stood trial accused of intentionally causing grievous bodily harm to his son, reports the website infohub.kz.
According to the case files, on the evening of April 11, the father and son were drinking alcohol together, after which a conflict arose between them. According to the investigation, the son was the first to attack his sleeping father and began to choke him. The man managed to break free, grab a knife in the kitchen, and strike his son several times.
A forensic medical examination established that the victim received one knife wound to the abdomen and five to the back, with damage to the liver, intestines, and ribs. These injuries were classified as grievous bodily harm.
In court, the defendant fully admitted his guilt, said that after the incident he and his son had reconciled, and asked not to be deprived of his freedom. The victim confirmed that he had started the conflict and also asked for a lenient sentence for his father.
When passing the sentence, the court took into account the defendant's remorse, the reconciliation of the parties, and the fact that the victim's unlawful actions had provoked the conflict. Alcohol intoxication was recognized as an aggravating circumstance.
In the end, the man was sentenced to three years of imprisonment suspended with probation supervision. After the verdict was announced, he was released from custody in the courtroom.
