In the Atyrau Region, two officials have been held accountable for discrediting the civil service: one department head was dismissed, while another received a formal warning of incomplete service compliance. The regional prosecutor's office reported this, according to infohub.kz.
According to the agency's official website, the Atyrau Region prosecutor's office uncovered two cases of violations in the spending of budget funds allocated for construction. The guilty officials were held accountable for discrediting the civil service.
The first case was recorded in Kurmangazy District. In 2024, the local construction department purchased 30 apartments in the village of Kurmangazy for 600 million tenge. The problem emerged later: the building had not been connected to gas distribution networks.
"The department head knew about this even before the procurement, but organized the tender anyway — with an advantage for certain entrepreneurs," the Atyrau Region prosecutor's office noted.
The second case occurred in Kyzylkoga District. Here, the head of the construction department transferred 900,000 tenge to a contractor for work that was never actually performed.
The matter was reviewed at a meeting of the Ethics Council. The head of the Kurmangazy District construction department was dismissed. His colleague from Kyzylkoga District received a warning of incomplete service compliance.
The prosecutor's office added that three more officials in the region were punished for similar violations.
