A resident of Atyrau has forgiven an acquaintance who stabbed him in the heart during a party. The altercation took place in a metal structure workshop, reports the website infohub.kz.
According to the court, the quarrel erupted about an hour into the gathering. The defendant stated that he was losing the fight, so he grabbed a kitchen knife and struck once.
A forensic medical examination found that the victim suffered a penetrating stab wound to the chest, damaging the pericardium and right ventricle, accompanied by second-degree hemorrhagic shock. The injury was classified as grievous bodily harm.
During the trial, the victim admitted he was drunk, had provoked the quarrel, and did not notice the blow. He noted that the attacker called an ambulance and tried to help, so he forgave him, has no claims, and asked the court not to imprison him. The defendant fully admitted his guilt and expressed remorse.
The court found the man guilty of intentional infliction of grievous bodily harm and sentenced him to three years in prison. However, considering the admission of guilt, remorse, lack of prior convictions, assistance to the victim, and the victim's request to keep the defendant out of prison, the sentence was suspended.
