With only days left before the start of the school year, parents in Atyrau still do not know where their children will study. They are demanding the completion of a school in their district, reports infohub.kz.
Residents of the Koktem microdistrict have been waiting for the new 600-place school for five years. According to local resident Ilyas Kadirov, children are forced to study in three shifts, and parents hope to transfer them to a proper school. "If the school does not open, let them say so directly—we are hoping in vain. Our children study in schools in three shifts. We want to transfer them to a normal school. If this school does not open, then let them not delay; we want to transfer our children here immediately," the resident said.
It is noted that residents have already contacted the akimat on this issue but have not received a response. Promises to open a school on the outskirts of Atyrau have been made for years. Earlier, the contractor explained the delay by the untimely receipt of funds from the state budget, and later mentioned changes to the estimate.
Officials, in turn, claim that construction is complete. "The construction of the 600-place school in the Koktem microdistrict is fully completed. All procedures have been carried out, and the facility is now being prepared for opening on September 1. Construction work dragged on until today due to changes in the project," said Altynbek Kuangali, head of the construction management department of Atyrau region.
