Former Atyrau Akim Shakir Keikin has issued an address to the city's residents after completing his tenure as mayor, a position he held for more than three years. He published the post on his Instagram page, according to infohub.kz.

"I consider it a great responsibility and an honor that from July 2023 to today I was the head of Atyrau and had the opportunity to contribute to the development of our hometown," Shakir Keikin said.

He added that during this time, work was carried out on infrastructure development, road repairs, landscaping, greening, and improving the condition of social facilities. "The development of the city is the result of the efforts not of one person, but of all residents," the former akim wrote.

According to him, over these years hundreds of meetings were held with citizens, their suggestions and wishes were heard, and no issue went unnoticed.

"I express my gratitude to the regional leadership, colleagues, employees of all institutions and organizations of the city, working people, public organizations and activists, and most importantly, to every resident of Atyrau for the trust and support shown to me," the former mayor said.

He noted that his years as akim became a great school for him, wishing everyone good health and family well-being. "And to my beloved city of Atyrau — sustainable development and further success," Shakir Keikin concluded.

Recall that he held the position of Atyrau Akim since July 2023. Today it became known that he left the post. In June of this year, information appeared about the detention of Atyrau Deputy Akim Meirzhan Mukasov. The National Security Committee (KNB) reported that a pre-trial investigation is underway.

Also, information spread online that acting city akim Tilek Makhuov was detained. The KNB stated that they are also conducting a pre-trial investigation.

After the news of the detentions, Atyrau residents began to wonder where city akim Shakir Keikin was and why he stopped appearing in public. The Atyrau akimat responded that he was on sick leave but had returned to work and was performing his duties.
