In Atyrau's central square, bystanders filmed the 'detention' of a minor who was behind the wheel of a toy electric Porsche. The police department of the Atyrau region commented on the incident, according to infohub.kz.
In footage posted on social media, at least five uniformed officers can be seen trying to pull a teenager out of the car, but he resists and refuses to get out.
"Caught without a license. Did he drink kumis or something? They caught the violator," says the person filming.
At one point, the young driver tried to hit the gas and get away, but couldn't: the officers held the Porsche. The video does not show how the incident ended.
In the comments, users were divided: some believe the police should have called the parents instead of handling the teen that way, while others maintained the young man was being cocky and disrespectful to the officers.
The situation was clarified to a NUR.KZ correspondent by the Atyrau regional police department. The department emphasized that the circulated video captures only a fragment of the incident and does not show the full sequence of events.
The police arrived at the scene following complaints from residents to check the legality of a business renting out toy cars. During the inspection, one of the minors deliberately sat in a vehicle that was subject to seizure and refused to heed repeated lawful demands to get out.
"After repeated warnings, the officers were forced to remove the teenager from the car to continue procedural actions. No special equipment or other coercive measures were used," the police department said.
The police also established that after 11 p.m., the minor was in a public place without a legal representative. He was taken to the police station, and his legal representative was held administratively liable under the law.
The department added that the investigation into the legality of the toy car rental business is ongoing. All actions of those involved will be given a legal assessment.
